Named after Holcombe Rucker, a local teacher and a playground director for the New York City Department of Parks and Recreation, Rucker Park is a famous basketball court located in Harlem, Manhattan, New York City.
The court hold several street-ball contests including slam dunk competitions and the Rucker Tournament which started in 1950 and helps less-fortunate kids stay off the streets. The courts are so well known, they are featured on NBA 2k games. Many NBA players have learned their crafts at Rucker Park before going on to greater heights in the NBA including, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Wilt Chamberlain and Julius “Dr. J” Erving.
