The West Fourth Street Courts, also known as “The Cage”, are one of the most famous street basketball courts in the world. Located in New York City’s Greenwich Village, the site hosts various amateur street-ball tournaments and regular recreation and pick-up games.

Although The Cage consists of a ring at each end, the court is smaller than a regulation size basketball court. In fact, the court is so small, sidelines are usually ignored during play creating a faster, tougher physical game. Due to the large number of players, competition for court time is stiff and losing players rarely get a second game.

West 4th is known for attracting talented ballers, so much so that former NBA players Anthony Mason and Smush Parker have learned their craft here, applying their physical style in the big league.
