Located in Holloway in London’s north, Emirates Stadium is home to one of Europe’s most famous teams, Arsenal. With a capacity of 60,704, it is the fourth largest football stadium in England behind Wembley Stadium, Old Trafford and Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
After being denied permission in 1997 to expand its previous home stadium, Highbury (now an apartment complex), Arsenal acquired an industrial and waste disposal estate 2000. Soon after this, they were granted council approval to build a stadium on the site. The stadium was eventually completed and opened in 2006 at a cost of approximately ÂŁ390Â million.
The stadium features restorations from Arsenal’s heritage along with commercial kitchens, education centres, luxury suites and disability amenities including guide-dog toilets and a Disabled Supporters Match Day Lounge.
