Perhaps the most iconic tennis venue in the world, Wimbledon is located in London’s south-west and is home of the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club (also known as the All England Club). Best known for the Wimbledon Championships which is the third Grand Slam of the calendar year and the only Grand Slam tennis event held on grass. Initially, the championship was an amateur event, contested among club members and friends, the event is now much bigger than the club itself attracting participants, delegates and fans from every corner of the globe, however, it still operates as a members’ tennis club.

The club currently has 18 tournament grass courts, eight American clay courts, two acrylic courts and five indoor courts. In addition, there are also 22 Aorangi Park grass courts, which are used as practice courts during the Championships.

The largest of the court is the Centre Court which holds the finals and the main singles and doubles events and features a retractable roof which was installed in 2009. Centre Court was built in 1922 and currently holds a touch under 15,000 spectators and is the fourth largest tennis stadium in the world.

The next main court is No.1 Court, built in 1997 which holds 11,500 and like Centre Court, it features a retractable roof, added in 2019. The next courts are No.2 Court and No.3 Court.
