The Float @ Marina Bay and also known as the Marina Bay Floating Platform, is the world’s largest floating stage located on the waters of the Marina Reservoir in Marina Bay, Singapore.
Made entirely of steel, the floating platform measures 120 by 83 metres (394 by 272 ft), which is 5% larger than the football pitch at Singapore’s National Stadium. The platform can bear up to 1,070 tonnes, equivalent to the total weight of 9,000 people, 200 tonnes of stage props and three 30-tonne military vehicles.. In addition, the grand stand at the stadium has a seating capacity of 27,000 people.
Although the stadium does host football matches, these are usually Sunday league events rather than professional games. It is also part of the Marina Bay Street Circuit turns 17 and 18 of the Formula One Singapore Grand Prix. Other events held here are Singapore’s National Day Parade and has also hosted the inaugural 2010 Summer Youth Olympics including the opening and closing ceremonies.
