Stade Roland Garros

Location: Paris, France

Stade Roland Garros is a complex of tennis courts located in Paris that hosts the French Open. Also known as Roland-Garros, it is the second Grand Slam of the calendar year which usually takes place at the end of May and beginning of June. Built in 1928 to host France’s defince of the David Cup, the complex consists of 20 courts, including three large capacity stadium, restaurant and bar complex, a press and VIP area, a tennis museum and France’s National Training Centre.

With each court played on clay surface, the main courts are:

• Court Philippe Chatrier, the centre court which holds approximately 15,500 and will soon feature a retractable roof.
• Court Suzanne Lenglen, built in 1994, originally designated as “Court A”, holding 10,068 spectators.
• Court Simonne Mathieu, a 5,000 seat arena which was built in 2019.
• Court 1, nicknamed the “Bullring” due to its circular shape, holding 3,800 people and a crowd favourite due to its small size allowing fans to be closer to the action.
