St James’ Park is located in Newcastle upon Tyne, England, and is home to Newcastle United F.C currently of the Premier League. Opened in 1892, it has been home to Newcastle United F.C ever since. With a seating capacity of 52,305 seats, it is the eighth largest football stadium in England.
The stadium has undergone multiple renovations and upgrades since opening, however, some expansions have been met with conflict from local residents and council, resulting in proposals for Newcastle United to move on several occasions. Reluctance from the club has led to the distinctive lop-sided appearance of the stadium’s present form.
The stadium which features multiple suites, bars, cafes, function rooms, lounges, and a museum has also been used for events other than Newcastle United home games and football, such as the 2012 Olympics, rugby league and rugby union matches. Non-sporting events include The Rolling Stones, Bruce Springsteen & E Street Band, and Queen.
