Opened in 2014 and located within the Singapore Sports Hub, on the site of the former National Stadium in Kallang, Singapore, the Singapore National Stadium or National Stadium is a multi-purpose stadium. It is mainly used for major association football matches and home matches of the Singapore national team.
The stadium is made out of insulated metal to reflect sunlight and holds 55,000 people. Additionally, it features the world’s largest retractable domed roof and the lower tier of the stadium also features the only customisable seating configuration in the world, enabling it to adjust to host virtually any sporting event and any given time.
In addition to Singapore’s home games and various soccer matches, the stadium also hosts cricket and rugby including the International Champions Cup and the Singapore Sevens. It also hosts cultural events such as the Singapore National Day Parade (which it no longer holds) and military parades.
