Originally named the Sky Dome, Rogers Centre is a multi-purpose stadium located in Downtown Toronto, Canada. Positioned on the former Railway Lands, it was opened in 1989 and is home to the Toronto Blue Jays of the Major League Baseball (MLB). The stadium was also once home to the Toronto Argonauts of the Canadian Football League (CFL) and the Toronto Raptors of the National Basketball Association (NBA).
The stadium’s name is from the Rogers Communications, a company which also owns the Toronto Blue Jays. The stadium features a fully retractable motorized roof, as well as for the 348-room hotel attached to it with 70 rooms overlooking the field. It was also the last North American major-league built stadium, built to accommodate football and baseball.
Other than baseball (and the occasional football game), the venue hosts conventions, trade fairs, travelling carnivals, circuses, monster truck shows and concerts for artists such as The Rolling Stones, Guns N’ Roses and Metallica.
