Located in Warsaw, Poland, PGE Narodowy or National Stadium (Stadion Narodowy in Polish) is mainly used for football matches and is home to the Poland national football team.
With a capacity of 58,580, it is the largest association football arena in Poland. The stadium opened in 2011 and is located on the former 10th-Anniversary Stadium, in the Praga Południe district, close to the city center.
Inspired by the cable-supported unfolding roof system of Commerzbank-Arena in Germany, the stadium features a retractable PVC roof which unfolds from a nest on a spire above the centre of the pitch. The stadium also features a heated pitch, training pitch, façade lighting, and underground parking.
The stadium hosted the opening match and two more group matches, as well as a quarter-final and a semi-final of the UEFA Euro 2012, co-hosted by Poland and Ukraine. Other than soccer, it has also held American Football, Volleyball and Motor cycle events. Non-sporting events include concerts for Madonna, Coldplay and AC/DC.
