Namatjira Park is a 12.1 hectare site, officially opened in April 1980, that provides a diversity of opportunities including social and family recreation, sport, play and environmental experiences.
The reserve has a single oval, single tennis court, sporting pavilion, the Clayton Bowls Club and bistro, skate park, playground, tennis wall, basketball half court, and dog off-leash park.
It is currently home to four organised sporting tenants, including traditional training and competition use for gridiron, competition only use for cricket, and year-round use for lawn bowls.
The Namatjira Wetlands sits adjacent to Namatjira Park and provides a home to a wide variety of water birds and wildlife, which can be enjoyed by raised boardwalks and bird lookouts, and also helps treat stormwater and provides a retarding water basin that provides flood protection of local properties.
The park also features an illuminated running track through the bushland with outdoor gym equipment as part of kilometres of walking and cycling paths.
Other community facilities include an expansive children’s playground, an under cover BBQ/picnic area, drinking fountains, public toilets, and on-site car parking.
As part of our commitment to improving open spaces and sporting facilities in Kingston, we developed a Masterplan for Namatjira Park to help guide the long-term planning for the site.
