The Johan Cruyff Arena is the main stadium of the Dutch capital city of Amsterdam and has been home to one of the biggest clubs in Netherlands, AFC Ajax since its opening in 1996. The largest stadium in the country, with a capacity of 54,990, was previously known as the Amsterdam Arena until the 2018–19 football season, when it was officially renamed in honour of legendary Dutch footballer Johan Cruyff who died in March 2016.
The stadium hosted five matches during the Euro 2000 tournament including the a quarter final and the semi final between Netherlands and Italy. It also held the 1998 Champions League between Real Madrid and Juventus and also the 2013 Europa League final between Chelsea and Benfica. Further to this, the venue has been selected to host three group matches and one round of 16 match as part of Euro 2020 (postponed to 2021).
The stadium which features a retractable roof, has also held non-sporting events including concerts for Coldplay, Michael Jackson and AC/DC.
