Indian Wells Tennis Garden is a tennis facility (as the name suggests) in Indian Wells near Palm Springs, California in the Coachella Valley. With a capacity of 16,100, the main stadium is the second largest outdoor stadium in the world (behind Arthur Ashe Stadium)
The venue is home to the Indian Wells Masters also known as BNP Paribas Open and the WTA Indian Wells Open, held annually in March. The tournament is popular among players and fans earning the reputation as the fifth largest tennis tournament in the world. In addition, the venue also hosts junior and adult United States Tennis Association event throughout the year. Members can also use the courts for recreational play while tournaments are not taking place.
Built in March, 2000 along with several upgrades, the facility consists of 29 courts, a main 16,000 seat stadium (second largest tennis specific stadium in the world), 11 match courts and 6 practice courts.
In addition to tennis, the venue has also hosted NBA pre-season exhibition games and concerts for bands such as The Eagles, The Who, and Tom Petty.
