Located approximately 45km (28 miles) southwest of downtown Boston in Foxborough, Massachusetts, Gilette Stadium is home to the New England Patriots of the National Football League (NFL) and the New England Revolution of the Major League Soccer (MLS).
Opened in 2002 as a replacement for the nearby Foxboro Stadium, Gilette Stadium has a capacity of 65,878 including 5,876 club seats and 89 luxury suites as well as administrative offices for both the New England Patriots and the New England Revolution.
The stadium is owned and operated by Kraft Sports Group, a subsidiary of The Kraft Group which is owned by Robert Kraft who also owns the Patriots and Revolution.
The first official event held at the stadium was a New England Revolution game on May 11, 2002. Since then the venu has become a fortress for the Patriots, winning five (six all together) Super Bowls. The Patriots fans have enjoyed their success so much, almost every home game since opening has been a sellout. Other than football and soccer, the stadium has held concerts for the Rolling Stones, U2 and Bruce Springsteen among many others.
