Opening in 1912, the home of the Boston Red Sox is the oldest baseball park in Major League Baseball (MLB). This historical stadium has undergone renovations and expansions along the journey, however, because of the age constraints and the location in Boston’s dense Fenway–Kenmore neighbourhood, this has resulted in some quirky features, such as the Green Monster in left field – a giant wall in standing at approximately 11 metres (37 ft.) which is a popular target for right-handed batsmen. This has also resulted in the stadium being the fourth smallest by seating capacity and the second smallest by total capacity.
The stadium has hosted ten World Series with the Red Sox winning five and the Boston Braves winning one. Besides baseball games, it has seen football games for the Boston (now Washington) Redskins, Boston Yanks, and the Boston (now New England) Patriots. It has also hosted sports such as boxing, Hurling and Gaelic Football, Soccer and Ice Hockey including the 2010 Winter Classic between the Boston Bruins and Philadelphia Flyers. Non-sport event includes concerts for Ray Charles, Rolling Stones, Lady Gaga, Foo Fighters and Pearl Jam.
