Origianlly named ‘Jack Kent Stadium’, Fedex Field is located in Landover, Maryland approximately 8km (5 miles) east of Washington D.C near the site of the old Capital Centre Arena (once home to Washington Bullets and the Capitals).
The stadium is the home of the Washington Redskins of the National Football League (NFL). From 2004 to 2010, it had the largest seating capacity in the NFL with over 91,000. In 2005, fans made the most of the large capacity with a record 716,998 people attending throughout the overall season.
In 2007, the record attendance was set when 90,910 fans watch the Redskins clinch a playoff spot, defeating the Dallas Cowboys 27-6. Due to renovations and upgrades, the capacity is now 82,000.
Other than football matches, FedEx Field has also hosted a number of exhibition soccer matches including D.C United against Chelsea FC and Manchester United vs F.C. Barcelona which drew 81,807 fans.
