Located in the parish of Tarqui in northern Guayaquil, Ecuador. Estadio Monumental Banco Pichincha is the home to football club Barcelona SC (not to be confused with the Spanish Barcelona FC). The stadium was built from the initiative of club president, Isidro Romero Carbo as he wanted a venue for the team to play their home games. Opened in 1987, the first game was held against Barcelona FC of Spain, which Barcelona SC won 1-0. The stadium has impressed many people including Pelé who once described the stadium as one of the most beautiful in the world.
