Located in Denver, Colorado, United States, Empower Field at Mile High or most commonly known as Mile High is the home of the National Football League‘s (NFL) Denver Broncos. Opened in 2001 to replace the Broncos’ old home, Mile High Stadium, the venue has undergone several name changes such as Broncos Stadium at Mile High, Invesco Field at Mile High and Sports Authority Field at Mile High. The stadium’s name is due to the city’s altitude of 1,610 metres (5,280 feet), making it the highest stadiums in the NFL. The venue is known for being on of the hardest stadiums to play in for opposing teams, due to its altitude and notoriously loud fans providing a handy home field advantage.
Since opening, thr stadium has also been home to the Denver Outlaws of the Major League Lacrosse (MLL) as well as the Colorado Rapids of the Major League Soccer (MLS), however, the Broncos are currently the only tennant. It was also the venue for Barack Obama’s acceptance of the Democratic nomination to the Presidency. The stadium has also hosted countless amounts of concerts including Guns N’ Roses, Metallica and U2.
