Busch Stadium aka ‘New Busch Stadium’ or ‘Busch Stadium III’ is located in St. Louis, Missouri and is home to the St.Louis Cardinals, the city’s Major League Baseball (MLB) franchise. The stadium has a capacity of 45,494, and features 3,706 club seats and 61 luxury suites.
Opened in 2006, it replaced Busch Memorial Stadium (aka Busch Stadium II) and occupies a portion of that stadium’s former footprint. A commercial area, dubbed ‘Ballpark Village’, was built adjacent to the stadium over the remainder of the former stadium’s footprint.
The stadium’s record attendance for a sporting match was set when 48,556 people watched the St. Louis Cardinals against the Pittsburgh Pirates. Other than baseball, the stadium hosts soccer matches and has also hosted an NHL Winter Classic between the St. Louis Blues and the Chicago Blackhawks in 2017.
Busch Stadium also holds non-sporting events including concerts for Billy Joel, Metallica and U2’s 360° tour in 2011 when the stadium’s record crowd for any event was set with 52,273 people in attendance.
