Opened in 1996, Bank of America Stadium is a 75,525-seat stadium located in uptown Charlotte, North Carolina, United States. The privately-financed venue is the home and headquarters of the Carolina Panthers of the National Football League, and will also be the home of the Charlotte MLS team as of 2021.
The stadium was originally names Ericsson Stadium before Bank of America purchased the naming rights in 2004. It features several unique elements such as giant arches and towers at each entry with cladding in the Panthers black, silver and blue team colours. The stadium’s interior features a wide and tall concourse resulting in the classic bowl style arena and state-of-the-art video and scoreboard systems above each end zone.
In addition to hosting Panthers and soon Charlotte MLS games, the stadium holds the annual Duke’s Mayo Bowl which features the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) against either the Southeastern Conference (SEC) or the Big Ten Conference. The record crowd was set on September 9, 2018 when 74,532 spectators watched the Panthers defeat the Dallas Cowboys 16-8.
