The Azteca Stadium is the largest and most famous stadium in Mexico. It is the home of domestic football teams, Club América, Cruz Azul, and the Mexico national football team. Regarded as one of the most iconic stadiums in the world it was the first venue to host two world cup finals (1970 and 1986). It also hosted the 1986 world cup quarter final between Argentina and England where Diego Maradona famously scored both the “Hand of God” and the “Goal of the Century” goal.
In recent times, the stadium has held multiple regular season NFL matches with some teams struggling to adapt to the stadium’s altitude, sitting at 2,200 m (7,200 feet) above sea level. along with musical acts including Michael Jackson’s 1993 Dangerous world tour where he played five sold out shows for a total of over 500,000 people.
